We are going to begin our service by singing a hymn that reminds
us that god is always there for us. It's called "Seek ye
first the kingdom of God"
Seek ye first the Kingdom of God,
Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, allelu, alleluia.
Ask and it shall be given unto you,
Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, allelu, alleluia.
Our first reading is from the book of psalms - Psalm number 23
The lord is my shepherd; I have everything I need. He lets me
rest in fields of green grass and leads me to quiet pools of fresh
water. He gives me new strength. He guides me in the right paths,
as he has promised. Even if I go through the deepest darkness,
I will not be afraid, lord, for you are with me. Your shepherds
rod and staff protect me.
You prepare a banquet for me, where all my enemies can see me;
you welcome me as an honored guest and fill my cup to the brim.
I know that your goodness and love will be with me all my life;
and your house will be my home as long as I live.
The reading tells us how god looks after us and gives us everything
we need. Let's think for a moment about all the things we take
for granted which help us in our life.
We thank the god for the sun. It gives us warmth and light.
Someone once said "To sing is to pray twice", that is
why our next hymn is one that also thanks god.
Thank you for giving me the morning.
Thank you for all my friends and brothers.
Thank you for many little sorrows.
Thank you, I see your word has meaning.
The following reading is taken from the book of St Matthew.
Jesus spoke to the people saying "You think rich people are
the happy ones because they have everything they want. But you
are wrong." He realized the people were puzzled by this and
he went on to explain. "Don't try to hoard lot's of money,
or buy lot's of things. Someone will only steal them. Store up
your treasure with god, where no one can rob you. Don't worry
about what you are going to eat or what you are going to wear.
Look at the birds flying overhead. God takes care of them and
he cares much more about you. Look around you. See how god dresses
the wild flowers! Not even king Solomon had clothes as beautiful
as theirs. So don't spend your life worrying. Do what god wants
and he will give you all you need. You can trust him".
Our next hymn reminds us that we are on a journey towards god.
It's one we always sing at camp and it's called "One more
step".
One more step along the world I go,
And it's from the old I travel to the new,
Round the corners of the world I turn,
And it's from the old I travel to the new,
As I travel through the bad and good,
And it's from the old I travel to the new,
Give me courage when the world is rough,
And it's from the old I travel to the new,
You are older than the world can be,
And it's from the old I travel to the new,
Prayers:
Heavenly Father, the theme of our camp is back to basics. Help
us to enjoy everything we do at camp and make it a happy experience
for everyone.
Dear Lord, Thank you for making us members of the Scout Movement.
Help us to remember the promise we made when we were invested.
Help us to always do our best, to think of others before ourselves
and to help others less fortunate than we are.
Heavenly father, We are sorry for the times today when we have
not been kind to others and have put our own interests first.
We will try to be more friendly, helpful and considerate tomorrow.
Let us now join together and sing the lords prayer.
Our father, who art in heaven,
On earth as it is in heaven,
Forgive us our trespasses,
And lead us not into temptation,
For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory,
Amen, amen, it shall be so,
Go out into the world at peace. Keep hold of what is good; never
pay back wrong for wrong; encourage those who fear, help the weak,
give due respect to everyone. Be always joyful; keep up your prayers;
give thanks often to god.Cubs own
Back to basics
and his righteousness,
and all these things shall be added unto you;
allelu, alleluia
seek and ye shall find;
knock, and it shall be opened unto you;
alleu, alleluia.
We thank god for water to drink.
We thank god that we have enough food to eat.
Thank you lord for the rain which helps things to grow.
Thank you lord for all kinds of weather.
Thank you lord for our families.
We thank you lord for our friends.
Thank you lord for all those who give up their time for our benefit.
Thank you lord for this camp and for the chance to learn new things.
Thank you for ev'ry day that's new.
Thank you that I can know my worries
can be cast on you.
Thank you for all the folk that live.
Thank you for even greatest enemies
I can forgive.
Thank you for ev'ry helping hand.
Thank you for everywhere your guidance
reaches every land.
Thank you, I know your spirit's here.
Thank you because you love all people,
those both far and near.
One more step along the world I go,
From the old things to the new
Keep me traveling along with you.
Keep me traveling along with you.
More and more about the world I learn.
And the new things that I see
You'll be looking at along with me.
Keep me traveling along with you.
Keep me traveling the way I should.
Where I see no way to go
You'll be telling me the way, I know.
Keep me traveling along with you.
Keep me loving though the world is tough.
Leap and sing in all I do,
Keep me traveling along with you.
Keep me traveling along with you.
You are younger than the life in me.
Even old and ever new,
Keep me traveling along with you.
Keep me traveling along with you.
Dear lord, You made a beautiful world for us to live in. Forgive
us when we harm the things you created for us to enjoy - the fresh
streams and rivers, the trees and green fields. Help us to preserve
and to protect everything you made and to stop those who selfishly
destroy it.
Amen

hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done,
hallowed be thy name, hallowed be thy name.
hallowed be thy name,
Give us this day our daily bread,
hallowed be thy name, hallowed be thy name.
hallowed be thy name,
as we forgive those who trespass against us,
hallowed be thy name, hallowed be thy name.
hallowed be thy name,
but deliver us from all that is evil,
hallowed be thy name, hallowed be thy name.
hallowed be thy name,
For ever, and for ever and ever,
hallowed be thy name, hallowed be thy name.
hallowed be thy name,
Amen, amen it shall be so,
hallowed be thy name, hallowed be thy name.
